Red Owl Tavern, nestled in the heart of Philadelphia at 433 Chestnut St, is a delightful gem in the New American restaurant scene. Visitors consistently rave about the warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by exceptional service from a friendly staff. Bella C. noted the breakfast experience as a highlight, particularly recommending the avocado toast and the Belgian waffle, which showcase the tavern's commitment to quality ingredients and great flavors.
The drink menu also impresses, as highlighted by James Rodgers, who praised bartender Zachary for his drink recommendations, especially “The Kelly Green.” This attention to detail in both food and drink elevates the dining experience. Highlights from the menu like the Spicy Crab and Spinach dip offered a perfect balance of taste, while Tyeshia Pegram appreciated the generous portions and easy-to-read menu, making it a fantastic choice for breakfast or brunch.
Moreover, the venue features a cozy bar area, ideal for a casual stop during explorations of Old City, as Jake Santilli discovered. The welcoming vibe is palpable, with locals and visitors alike feeling at home, thanks to the friendly interactions with staff led by capable management like Missy.
Overall, Red Owl Tavern promises a delightful dining experience filled with innovative flavors, attentive service, and a vibe that invites return visits.

we stayed in the hotel too, and today’s breakfast experience was even better than yesterday’s because our waiter, and pretty much all of them, were super nice and friendly. food was also really good. i recommend the avocado toast, the steel cut oatmeal, and the strawberries and cream Belgian waffle.

Me and my girlfriend are visiting from New Hampshire and stopped in for a drink. Ended up talking with the bartender Zachary who gave us excellent recommendations for food, drinks, and things to do in the area! And also made a killer drink “The Kelly Green” will definitely come back next time we’re in Philly.

Was looking for a great breakfast spot. We walked into Red Owl and it was an amazing vibes and atmosphere. The menu was very simple and easy to read. I really enjoyed my breakfast and it seems like it was a lot of food! Tons of seating downstairs and upstairs. I waiter was definitely friendly and helpful! I overall highly recommend. They also had another area where you can order things to go that I thought was very cool !

We needed a place to warm up and get out of the rain while we were exploring Old City. I saw that this was the closest place from the Liberty Bell, so we decided to check it out. I am seriously impressed with the cocktails and food. We sat at the bar and were served right away. Service was great, and it wasn't super busy around noon on a Saturday. I ordered the "Valley of the Reindeer" cocktail which was delicately made and devoured. My wife and I ordered the Spicy Crab and Spinach dip, plus the pierogis. Both of these appetizers were perfectly delicious, and just enough food to fill us the two of us quick before heading back out.

Came here for the first time and had an AMAZING experience. I sat at the bar during the late afternoon and the bartender Danny was very friendly and attentive. There was never a time I had to wait for service. I then met the manager Missy who was incredibly friendly and professional and it is clear that she runs a fine establishment as it seemed like a very healthy atmosphere and work environment. Missy then introduced me to the staff and while greeting everyone, Jozie took the time to engage in friendly conversation and provided me very helpful information about the local area as I am not from Philadelphia. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and I will be returning soon as everyone really made me feel at home. Thank you so much!

Great vibes and great food! I tried some of the Spicey Crab and Artichoke dip and it was phenomenal. The burger was also a great burger. The fingerling potatoes had a uniform flavor that was a nice change from just fries. Everything I tried was great!

We stayed in the Kimpton Monaco, for a week. I have to say the staff is wonderful! Highly recommended, hope to stay here again. Most noteworthy, are the staff of the red owl tavern! We had an event dinner for our son. They went over the top to accommodate all our wishes! Thanks to all the bartenders , waiters, waitresses, managers! Can't say enough kind words! But a special thank you to our server Jozie! Wonderful!

This tavern is connected to an extremely cute boutique hotel and has a lot of natural lighting from all the large windows wrapping the establishment. Because of the location, it’s always busy and lively but not too loud. There is a tiny coffee and pastry counter that offers delicious pastries and drinks.
